The parts of a syllable are arranged in a block consisting of at least a consonantal initial sound and a vocalic final sound. The orientation of the vowel determines the arrangement: vertical vowels are written to the right of the onset, horizontal vowels below. A missing consonantal onset is marked with a circle, which represents the closure of the throat. Consonant groups at the final position are written below the pair of characters, if applicable.

Die Laute einer Silbe werden zu einem Block zusammengefasst, der mindestens aus konsonantischem Anlaut und vokalischem Auslaut besteht. Dabei bestimmt die Ausrichtung der Vokale die Anordung: vertikale Vokale werden rechts neben den Anlautkonsonanten geschrieben, horizontale darunter. Bei Vokalen ohne anlautenden Konsonanten steht der Kreis, der den Kehlverschluss darstellt. Auslautkonsonantengruppen werden gegebenenfalls unter das Zeichenpaar geschrieben.
